25 Apr Caring for Our Caregivers
Gail Chaney worked as a dedicated and professional nurse for 31 years. She cared for her patients relentlessly, until her hearing loss began to take a toll on her life and career.
“I noticed that I was having difficulty hearing about 8 years ago, especially at work,” Gail said. “I must have been relying on lip reading without realizing it.”
Gail consistently found herself struggling to communicate with both doctors and patients on a daily basis. Communication outside of work also became daunting, and she eventually pulled away from making an effort to socialize at all.
For the last three years, she has been searching for hearing aid assistance with no luck… until she found the Hearing Aid Project.
Gail was accepted into the program and was recently fitted with hearing aids. She is eternally grateful and is excited to begin a new chapter in life with new ears.
“Receiving hearing aids has been so wonderful!” Gail exclaimed. “The benefits are already amazing. It’s wonderful to be able to hear what my great nephews, nieces and grandchildren have to say.”
Millions of individuals just like Gail work incredibly hard, but are still in need of assistance. Every dollar donated to the Hearing Aid Project is used to transform the life of an individual in need.
“I would like people to know that the Hearing Aid Project exists and is actively working to help those with hearing and financial difficulties reclaim their lives,” Gail said. “Thank you so much!”
