18 Jan The Four Keys to Ear Cleaning
Let’s talk about hearing loss for a moment, shall we? Whether your hearing loss is temporary or permanent, we understand that your quality of life is impacted daily. The good news is we’re here to help!
If you have permanent hearing loss, we’ve created the Hearing Aid Project to assist individuals by giving, getting and helping.
If you do not have permanent hearing loss, but are still having difficulties reaching your full hearing potential, we have a few keys to help you along the way!
First. Ear wax is your friend. It’s your body’s way of keeping outside dirt and particles from entering your ear. The substance also acts as a natural lubricant and moisturizes the ear canal.
Second. Do not put anything in your ear – this includes cotton swabs, ear candles, bobby pins, pencils, etc. If inserted deeply enough, the object can penetrate the ear causing various degrees of damage.
Third. Believe it or not, your ears are self-cleaning entities. Unless you are genetically prone to ear wax build up, your ears will naturally clean themselves.
Fourth. If you do experience excessive build up, please talk to your doctor about potential home remedies and/or other medical options.
Although ear wax is beneficial, too much of a good thing can still be harmful. At times, ear wax build up can lead to conductive hearing loss. Fortunately, this type of hearing loss can be remedied. If you are struggling with hearing loss or have more questions, please contact us today!
